About Your Therapist

Aera Barnette, LMT & Peer2Peer Wellness Coach
MA60668404, Intra-Oral Certified

Hi! I'm a Medically-focused massage therapist who graduated from the Cortiva Institute in 2016. I've lived in Seattle for over 14 years and have lived in quite a few different neighborhoods. I've practiced massage in various settings as well, from high-end spas in the travel & leisure sector, to wellness massage centers alongside other providers, such as acupuncturists.

I'm an evidence-based practitioner with a total of 9 years of education, starting in 2015! During my time in school I did my internship with Jubilee Women's Center and began working early with folx who are in chronic pain or who have disabilities. I have helped people with various disabilities and chronic pain conditions over the years, including those with: EDS, MCAS, Nerve-related chronic pain, Whiplash (Acute & unresolved) and Autism, and those who are immunocompromised!

I actively work to create an inclusive space that honors the needs of all of my patients, including those who are Neurodivergent. I am committed to challenging my biases and ableism in and out of the treatment room. Consent is another cornerstone of my practice that I find of high value when working with many different people. You'll find my approach to bodywork to be thorough, trauma-informed, and non-invasive. I provide the best possible care for all of my patients and believe that communication is the cornerstone to better outcomes!

I keep up on my continuing education year after year, here's just a handful of the courses I have taken in the last 4 years:

Ethics of Diversity: Confronting our isms with Gracielx Lopez, LMT
Upper Cervical Seminar with Michael Hamm, LMT, CST
Anti-Oppression in Bodywork with Gracielx Lopez, LMT
